Beef and Broccoli

I love Chinese food! However, when ordering take out, it isn’t exactly the healthiest option. Therefore, I enjoy making my own “Chinese Take Out”. I think that there is often a misconception on how much time it takes to put something like this together. In the time it takes for you to order and the delivery man to bring it, you could make your own healthy alternative! This is one such recipe!

1 ½ lb flank steak
2 heads of broccoli, cut into florets
2 tbsp sesame oil

Marinade:
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp palm sugar
1 tbsp arrowroot powder
1 tbsp liquid aminos
1 tbsp water
2 tbsp olive oil

Sauce:
1/3 cup liquid aminos
2 tbsp palm sugar
2 tbsp arrowroot powder
2 tbsp sesame oil
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp ginger
Dash of pepper

1. Slice steak into thin strips. Mix marinade ingredients in a bowl. Add steak and coat well with marinade. Cover with plastic wrap and place in frig. (Optimally, marinade for an 1 hour, but you can allow beef to soak while the broccoli cooks if you are time pressed.)
2. Heat large skillet on medium-high heat with 2 tbsp of sesame oil. Add broccoli florets. Sauté for 5 -7 minutes. Set aside.
3. While broccoli cooks, mix sauce ingredients in a bowl.
4. Pour steak and marinade into large skillet. Cook meat until almost done. Add broccoli back to skillet.
5. Pour sauce in skillet. Mix well. Continue to cook and stir for another 3-4 minutes.
6. Serve solo or over riced cauliflower.
